1.          Operations

             a.  The company remains in direct support of the 1st Marine Regiment.   The
3d platoon, CoA, 1stATBn was joined by this company as of 1 March.

             b.  Headquarters Platoon continues in support of the gun platoons providing
maintenance, logistical and administrative support.   At 080530 a wrecker, MRC-36
and a M-37 with 8 Marines as armed security departed the company CP and proceeded
to (BT 398149) to retrieve one Ontos, which had mechanical trouble.   The Ontos
was towed to the company area and repaired.

             c.  1st Platoon continues in direct support of the 1st Battalion, 4th Marines
manning defensiv positions along the MLR at (BT 5209) and(BT 5210).   During
this reporting period the platoon did not participate in any operations.

             d.  2nd Platoon on 1 March reverted to the direct support of the 2nd Battalion,
4th Marines with defensive positions on Hill 69 complex.  At 010715H the light
section escorted on platoon fro CoG, 2nBn, 4th Marines to (BT 431109) and
then to (BT 431108).   At 1100H the light section escorted the platoon back to their
positions and returned to Hill 69 complex.   At 071830 the light section escorted
CoE, 2nd Battalion, 4th Mariness to (BT 398149).   At 2000 B-25 received 3 rounds of
small arms fire.   Due to mechanical difficulty the Ontos was unable to return fire.
No damage was received.   The vehicle was towed into the company CP the next
morning and repaired.    The other Ontos proceeded back to Hill 69.

             e.  3d Platoon CoA, 1stATBn was joinded on the rolls on 1 March.   They re-
mainded in direct support of the 3d Battalion, 1st Marines.   No operations were
conducted.

3.   Training - a company training program is being conducted on the platoon
level.   The Ontos platoon are required to conduct 21 hours of instruction on
the maintenance and use of the M50A1's and7 hours on General Military
Subjects.    Headquarters Platoon is required to conduct 7 hours of instruction
on General Military Subjects.

Headquarters Platoon continued maintenance, logistical and administrative
          support, as of 171600H.   The company minus the gun platoons came under the
          operational control of the 4th Marine Regiment vice the 1st Marine Regiment.

1st Platoon continues in direct support of the 1stBn, 4th Marines.   On 15
          March the 1st Platoon moved to this company CP and the 3d Platoon assumed
          the 1st Platoon's defensive positions.

2nd Platoon continues in direct support of the 2ndBn, 4th Marines in the
          Hill 69 complex.    A heavy section departed at 161430H to augment the de-
          fensive positions of the 1stBn, 11th Marines around the Ong Bo bridge
          (BT 441099) in support of 2ndBn, 4th Marines.    The section returned at
          181130H with negative contact.   At 181300 the light section provided escort
          for an 18 truck convoy from Hill 69 to BT 429109 to pick up 2nBn, 4th
          Marines and return to hill 69.

3d Platoon CoA, 1stATBn continues in direct support of the 3dBn, 1st Marines.
          The 3dPlt relieved the 1st Platoon on 15 March.    This move coincided with
          3dBn, 1st Marines relief of 1stBn, 4th Marines.

1.          Operations

             a.  The company remains in direct support of the 4th Marine Regiment.

             b.  Headquarters Platoon embarked aboard the AKA 105 USS SKAGIT on 24 March
and departed the Chu Lai enclave 25 March and arrived Phu Bai the evening of 25
March.    Initial offloading began 1730 and Headquarters arrived at the company
CP and 0930 26 March.   Temporary camp construction was completed by 29 March.
The company with two gun platoons are billeted in 3 strongback GP Tents and 6
GP Tents.   Minor damage was incurred by the motor transport vehicles during em-
barkation.

             c.  2nd Platoon is located in the company area and supports the 2ndBn, 1st
Marines.     The heavy and light section alternate on nightly bases defensive
positions along the M.L.R.   The positions are (YD878154)(YD883153)(YD889153)

             d.  3d Platoon is located in the company area and supports the 3dBn, 4th
Marines.    One Ontos is deadline for an engine replacement.    The platoon has re-

1.          OPERATIONS

             a.  The general disposition of the Company remained unchanged;  1st
platoon with 2/9, 2nd platoon with 3/9, 4th platoon with 3/3, and the
3rd platoon augmenting the 1st and 4th platoons.   There was very little
action for this reporting period.

             b.  SUMMARY OF PLATOON ACTIONS

                    (1)  1st platoon.   The platoon commenced the reporting period
with 1-2 with Company M, 3/3 at An Trach; 1-3 and 1-5 with Company G
at 983658, 1-4 with Company H at 023654 and 1-1 at Battalion Mainten-
ance.   There was no action and no change in disposition until the 5th
when 1-2 was withdrawn from An Trach to Battalion Maintenance where it
remained for the remainder of the reporting period.   At the same time
1-5 was withdrawn to the platoon CP for the remainder of the reporting
period.   There was no action, no contact, and no rounds expended and
the disposition is now as follows:  1-1 at platoon CP;  1-2 at Battalion
Maintenance;  1-3 and 1-5 at Company G;   and 1-4 with Company H.

                    (2)  2nd platoon.   This platoon commenced the reporting period
with 2-1 and 2-2 with Company I, 3/9 and 2-4 and 2-5 with Company L,
3/9 and 2-3 in Battalion Maintenance.   The four vehicles in operation
spent the first two days in the platoon CP for Preventive Maintenance.
On the 3rd, 2-1 and 2-3 (released from deadline) participated in a
sweep of grid squares 1561, 1360, 1162, and 1263.   No contact.

                    On the 4th 2-1 and 2-3 went ot Company L at 094658 and 2-3
and 2-4 went to Company I at 065644.  2-5 was in Battalion Maint-
enance.   There was no further action until the 6th when both sections
participated in a sweep from 077658 to 072698.   There was no contact
reported.

                    The following day these same vehicles participated in a sweep
of area bounded by 056640, 0764, 080610 and 058600.   There was no
contact reported.   On the 9th the vehicles participated in a search
and destroy operation in area bounded by 034683, 048685, 050657 and
032648.   There was no contact reported.   On the 10th 2-5 was released
from maintenance and replaced 2-4 which went to maintenance.   All
other vehicles were withdrawn to the platoon CP.   While in this
vicinity 2-1 received four or five small arms rounds at about 1330.  As
the direction from which this fire had emanated could not be deter-
mined, it was not returned.    There were no casualties.    One VCS (female)
was seen running from the area and was apprehended and turned over to
an infantry patrol in the area.    The vehicles closed out the reporting
period in the platoon CP except for 2-4 which remained at Battalion
Maintenance.

                    (3)  3rd platoon.  This platoon is still augmenting the 1st
and 4th platoons.   Vehicles 3-1 and 3-4 were with Company I, 3/3 on
Hill 55.    There was no action for this section except on the 7th when
they escorted a convoy from the hill to the Ha Dong bridge.   There was
no contact.   On the 10th these two vehicles were withdrawn to the
Company CP for preventive maintenance.   Vehicle 3-2 spent the reporting
period with company H, 2/9 and reported no operations or action.   3-3
commenced this period at the 4th platoon CP, but on the 2nd was with-
drawn to Battalion Maintenance where it remained until the evening
of the 9th.    On the 10th this vehicle was sent to An Trach and reported
no action that day.   It was not involved in any action there and on the
8th was sent to An Trach with Company M, 3/3.   On the 9th it acted as
a blocking force at 976644 for Company M on a sweep.    There was no
action reported.

                    (4)  4th platoon.   The platoon commenced the reporting period
with 4-3 and 4-5 with Company L, 3/3 on Hill 22, 4-1 and (1-2) with
Company M, 3/3 at An Trach, 4-4 and (3-3) at 4th platoon CP, and 4-2
deadlined at Battalion.    3-3 was withdrawn to Battalion Maintenance.
On the 2nd 4-1 and 1-2 went on a sweep with Company L.  There was no
contact.   On the 5th, these vehicles again went out with Company L,
but there was no contact.   However 1-2 developed trouble and was
withdrawn to the 1st platoon CP and replaced by 4-4.   On the 6th
4-1 and 4-4 went on another sweep.   No contact was reported.   On the
8th 4-4 developed trouble and was replaced with 3-5 and on the 9th
4-1 and 3-5 went out with Company M.  No contact was reported.   There
was no further action reported.

1.          OPERATIONS

          a.  The general disposition of the Company remained unchanged; 1st

          b.  SUMMARY OF PLATOON ACTIONS

                    (1)  1st platoon.   The platoon commenced the reporting period with
1-1 at the platoon CP, 1-2 at Battalion Maintenance, 1-3 and 1-5 at
Company G, and 1-4 with Company H.  On 11 March 1-1 was released from
maintenance and sent ot Company H.   The disposition remained unchanged
for the reporting period with no operations and no contact.    The platoon
test fired a Hoa Cam Training Area on 15 March firing 33 106 mm HEP-T
rounds and 140 cal. .50 spotting rounds.

                    (2)  2nd platoon.   The platoon commenced the reporting period with
2-4 at Battalion Maintenance, (where it remained for the entire period)  and
the remainder at the platoon CP.   There was no change until the 14th when
the four available vehicles participated in a sweep of area bounded by
127636-092627-093644-111656.    There was no contact reported and the
vehicles returned to the platoon CP.    On the 18th the platoon CP displaced
to the new location (074657).    On the 19 2-3 was deadlined and replaced
with 3-1 and on the 20th the four vehicles participated in a sweep of
Ten My (1) area.   There was no contact reported and the vehicles returned
to the platoon CP.

                    (3)  3rd platoon.   This platoon is being used to augment the
remaining platoons.    The platoon commenced the reporting period with 3-1
and 3-4 at the Company CP, 3-2 with Company H, and 3-3 and 3-5 at
An Trach with Company M, 3/3.

                    On the 11th 3-3 and 3-5 returned to the 1st platoon CP and
vehicles 3-1 and 3-4 were sent to Battalion Maintenance for a quarterly.
3-2 was at the 1st platoon CP.   On the 13th, 3-3 and 3-5 were used as
escort vehicles from Yen Ne (1) to An Trach (3) and returned to the 1st
platoon CP with no contact reported.   On the 15th 3-2, 3-3, and 3-5
participated in a FIREX at Hoa Cam Training Area with the 1st platoon.
They fired 15 106 mm HEP-T rounds and 90 cal. .50 spotting rounds.   There
was no change in the disposition until the 17th when 3-2 and 3-3 were
sent to the 4th platoon for assignment to Hill 55 with Company I, 3/3,
and 3-5 was sent to Battalion Maintenance.   On the 19th 3-2 was used to
guard a detail working on the road between Ha Dong bridge and Hill 55.  No
contact was reported.  Vehicle 3-1 was sent to the 2nd platoon to replace
2-3 (deadlined) and participated in a sweep with that platoon on the 20th
with no contact reported.

                    (4)   4th platoon.   This platoon commenced the reporting period
with 4-1 and 4-3 (4-3 replacing 3-3) with Company M, 3/3 at An Trach (1),
4-4 and 4-5 with Company L, 3/3 on Hill 22, and 4-2 at Battalion
Maintenance.    The situation remained static until 17 March when the
vehicles with Company M participated in an operation and fired two (2)
106 mm HEP-T rounds and 250 rounds of caliber .30 linked at three (3) VC
in a cane field vicinity 967653 with undetermined results.   On the same
day vehicles 3-2 and 3-3 were attached to this platoon and assigned to
Hill 55 with Company I, 3/3.   On 18 March vehicles 4-1 and 4-3 were dis-
patched to assist a squad pinned down by fire and help evacuate wounded.
There was no contact as the VC apparently withdrew.    On 19 March 3-2 was
assigned to guard a detail working on the road between Ha Dong bridge
and Hill 55 (The detail had received automatic fire the previous day).
There was no contact reported.   There was no further action during
the reporting period and the disposition is as follows:
                    3-2 and 3-3 with Company I, 3/3;
                    4-4 and 4-5 with Company L, 3/3;
                    4-3 and 4-1 with Company M, 3/3;
                    4-2 at Battalion Maintenance.

2.     TRAINING

          a.   Elements of the 1st and 3rd platoon conducted a FIREX on the
15th stressing quick reaction and fire and maneuver.   Fired a total of
230 caliber .50 spotting rounds and 48 106 mm HEP-T.   Results were
good.   On the 17 the 4th platoon conducted familiarization firing
with small arms and automatic weapons firing 100 rounds of caliber .45
and 230 rounds of caliber .30 linked.

                    Fired H&I fires every night of reporting period.   Firing
position, Hill 358 above esso plant.   Fired into Grid Sq. 8986, 8987,
8988 and 8989.   116 rounds HEP-T expended on H&I fires.   Eight  hours
of school held on new ONTOS crewmen.   One hour of school held on
USMC.   ONTOS A-11 and A-14 remain on deadline for track.   All other
ONTOS operational.

                    2nd Platoon Co "A" 1stATBn.   From 11 to 12 March, heavy section
ONTOS, light section Tanks, and H-2/1 conducted search and clear
operation in village of "Jiale" in northern sector of 2/1 TAOR.  ONTOS
were employed at Blocking force, 100 meters to the west of the village.
No contact, negative results.    On 13 to 15 March, heavy section ONTOS
supported E-2/1 on a search and clear operation at the junction of
Hway #1 and Route #14.   No contact, negative results.  One ONTOS used
nightly for Bn C.P. security.     No classes held due to five minute
stand-by alert during reporting period.    All ONTOS operational.
